This gets pretty academic... a simple idea presented in a complex way. Hope it's not too dense.
For the TL:DR or TL:DW crowd: Fi, as part of judging, must include awareness of feeling, but it's not feeling itself. Fi and emotional experience and expression are separate, and emotion depends on the individual.
A lot of INFPs seem dispassionate, because awareness of emotion means they stay (as Jung describes): "in a secure and tranquil middle state of feeling, where passion and its intemperateness are resolutely proscribed."
00:00 introduction
00:50 Dominant Fi recap
01:40 Fi lower in the stack
02:20 Fi dominant myths: They are/can be both dispassionate and largely ambivalent
04:25 Part of Fi is "the awareness of feeling" [Note: By this I don't mean a perceiving function. Rather, awareness of feeling is required for processing feelings. The same way that an awareness of logic is required to process through thinking.]
04:55 How one INFP may be more emotional, and another may be less emotional. [Note: I bring up the idea of emotions coming in to bias feeling judging. That's not exclusive to Fi. Similarly, personal bias can affect thinking judging outcomes.]
07:00 More on the dispassionate INFP.
08:00 What this means in MBTI -- emotion is more about the person than it is about cognitive functions.
09:00 Wrap. Fi and emotion are connected but also separate. Levels of emotional experience and expression are not dependent on Fi.
