Destry (February 14, 1964)

Описание: This short-lived series followed the adventures of Harrison Destry (John Gavin), a former lawman who was framed for a crime and searched for the outlaws who were responsible following his jail release.

The series was the latest incarnation of Max Brand's western novel "Destry Rides Again", which was first published in 1930. Destry would be featured in three movie adaptations, the first of which starred Tom Mix (1932), followed by the more famous 1939 version with James Stewart. Audie Murphy starred in a 1954 version simply titled "Destry". There was also a West German adaptation in 1966.

This TV version, a replacement for the recently cancelled "77 Sunset Strip", only ran for 13 episodes from February to May of 1964. Critics at the time were mostly unfavorable in their reviews.

In the first episode, "The Solid Gold Girl", Destry arrives in a town where an old cell mate of his is to be put on trial for murder and robbery. He offers up the location to Destry, who doesn't want to get involved, and a saloon singer who definitely does.

The premiere episode guest starred Tammy Grimes, Claude Atkins, Broderick Crawford, and Neville Brand.
