The Story of Maximum Overdrive: Stephen King's Failed Directorial Debut

Описание: By the mid 80s, Stephen King had already cemented himself as not only one of the most famous authors in horror, but all of fiction. Having written such classics as Carrie, The Shining, Cujo, and many others, he was in a class all his own. So it was no surprise when Hollywood came calling, asking to adapt his works to film and television. While the initial results were promising, a decline in quality prompted King to get more involved itself. So much so in fact, that when Italian producer Dino De Laurentiis began a working relationship with King, he convinced the author to try his hand at directing a movie. That movie was Maximum Overdrive, and was such a disaster that it led King to never step behind a camera again. This is the story of Maximum Overdrive, a movie that blinded a cinematographer, nearly killed Lisa Simpson, and acerbated a legendary author's drug problem.
