In Boston, mobster Bobby "Bats" Batton narrowly survives a home attack, only to discover he has fallen out of favor with his boss after being falsely accused of embezzling from the organization. With nowhere else to turn, Bobby approaches FBI chief Sharp, seeking protection for himself and his family. In exchange for turning informant against his boss, Bobby and his wife Cindy, teenage son Sean, and young daughter Suzie are given new identities and relocated to Seattle. Under the guidance of Agent Steven Beck, they enter a safe house to be trained for their new lives—revealing just how unprepared and broken they truly are. As they struggle to adapt to this forced reinvention, the family faces a tense question: can they survive and thrive in a world so alien to them?
