HOW TO SEW A SINGLE-SIDED DRAWSTRING BASKETBALL BAG [With Stem Stitch and Split Stitch Embroidery]

Описание: Learn how to sew a single-sided drawstring basketball bag with simple embroidery using steam and split stitch on the front.

My hubby bought a new basketball recently and I thought it will be the perfect opportunity to show you how I make a drawstring bag for the basketball! I chose nylon as the fabric because it is easy to wash, it is light and dries pretty quickly. But because this fabric is so light, it slides around a lot and the best tip I can share with you is to use a lot of pins to hold them in place! Ironing down the folds and seams will also help.

To draw on nylon, I used a dermatograph pencil (aka grease pencil). I tried using my white chaco pens and chalks but they don’t show up as well on the nylon. One down side of the dermatograph pencil is that is it really thick, so you have to cater to its thickness when you draw anything.

I also decided to add a simple embroidery element in the front of the bag so that it does not look too plain. I used 2 different stitches – the stem stitch for the basketball and the split stitch for the letterings. I like to use stem stitch for curves, I find that you can get a smoother curve with it especially if you work in small stitches.
