Way of the Warrior [3DO] - play as Gulab Jamun

Gulab is the hidden final boss of the game. He is an unlockable playable character, but he can only be used in Versus Mode.

NOTE: Unlimited Lifebar cheats used due to the ridiculous difficulty of the CPU opponents.

===== HOW TO UNLOCK GULAB =====

On the game's main menu, go into the Names section and enter the following name and dates:

Name: GULAB
Date: FEB 29 1900

Once that is entered, Gulab will be available in Versus Mode. On the character select screen, highlight Crimson Glory and press Right or highlight Dragon and press Left to access the hidden slot at the bottom-right. If you have other bosses/hidden characters unlocked then you can cycle further through them within this slot.

===== GAMEPLAY =====

His Special Moves include a Buzzsaw projectile which is out-of-character; and a Teleport move where he lassos a rope to go up to the top of the screen and then reappear by coming back down in another area.

His Basics have pretty good reach, and he has a close-up LP which if it hits unblocked, immediately dizzies the opponent! Other Basics include him doing "sat-down-meditation-pose" Spinning Clothesline punches which is quite effective against the CPU opponents. He is also able to summon/use a magical sword for his jumping HPs.

===== DESIGN =====

This character is from India according to his in-game profile... and his aesthetics depict this for sure. His background/stage is the Taj Mahal. He completely looks the part in his VS screen image.

The actor who plays Gulab Jamun is Vijay Pande.

---- He is also known as Swami.

---- His name, Gulab Jamun, is also a milk-solid-based sweet from the Indian subcontinent. It is mostly used as a dessert.

===== WOTW TRIVIA =====

---- A budget of $100,000 was set to produce the game, with $80,000 coming from Naughty Dog's own pocket. Production and development took place over a course of 12 months. During this time, Naughty Dog was bankrupt and barely had any money to finish the game.

---- The actors/actresses for the fighters were portrayed by friends and relatives of Naughty Dog employees. For example, the actress who plays Crimson Glory was the ex-girlfriend of the game's producer, Jason Rubin; and the actor who plays Shaky Jake is the brother of the game's programmer, Andy Gavin.

---- As the producers/developers Naughty Dog could not afford a chroma key system (the green background & equipment) or any kind of motion capture backdrop equipment, a yellow sheet was glued to a wall in the developer's apartment and filming was made there instead. However, as the apartment turned out to be too small, Jason Rubin had to open the front door and shoot from the apartment's hallway. The neighbors mistakenly believed that the crew were making naughty films.

---- Pillow cases, sheets, items from McDonald's Happy Meals and other items within the apartment were used to create the costumes of the characters.

---- Naughty Dog later worked with American Laser Games to develop an Arcade version of the game. Prototypes were built and tested, but were never released. The Arcade version is described to be identical to the 3DO version.

---- The game's music/soundtrack is by American heavy metal band, White Zombie.

===== ABOUT WOTW =====

Way of the Warrior was an attempt to try to cash in on the hype of the mid-90s digitized graphics and gore trends made popular by Mortal Kombat I & II. Whilst the graphics were pretty impressive for it's time, the major downside has always been the gameplay... it seems that this is one of those fighting games that relied on it's aesthetics and the blood & gore factor to sell it.

The game runs at around 30fps, which is another downside and in my view, blasphemy for a 2D fighting game.
