Storm Force Accelatron is a fast-spinning attraction in Marvel Super Hero Island at Islands of Adventure Florida. Inspired by the X-Men comics, this interactive experience brings to life the battle between Storm and Magneto, as riders join Professor Xavier’s power generator to unleash lightning and energy strong enough to stop Magneto’s latest plan. The faster you spin, the stronger the storm becomes, filling the air with thunder, lightning effects, and heroic music.

The attraction opened on May 28, 2000, one year after Islands of Adventure first debuted. It was designed and manufactured by Mack Rides as a family-friendly spinning ride that lets guests control their own speed using a central wheel. The attraction was originally planned to open with the park in 1999 but was delayed until the following year. Its storyline is told through comic-style panels and narration from Storm and Professor Xavier, immersing guests in a classic X-Men adventure from start to finish.

Marvel Super Hero Island is themed entirely around the world of Marvel Comics, featuring attractions based on legendary characters such as Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Doctor Doom. The area is known for its bold comic book styling, sound effects, and motion-based experiences. Other rides include The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, Doctor Doom’s Fearfall, and The Incredible Hulk Coaster.

Storm, also known as Ororo Munroe, is one of the most powerful members of the X-Men. She has the ability to control the weather, summon lightning, and manipulate the elements. Her character first appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1 in 1975 and has remained a key part of Marvel’s X-Men series ever since. Storm’s combination of strength, leadership, and empathy has made her one of Marvel’s most beloved heroes, inspiring this dynamic attraction at Islands of Adventure.

Islands of Adventure in Florida opened in 1999 as part of Universal Orlando Resort. The park is home to eight themed lands including Marvel Super Hero Island, Jurassic Park, Skull Island, Toon Lagoon, The Lost Continent, Port of Entry, Seuss Landing, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Hogsmeade.

Universal Orlando Resort also includes Universal Studios Florida, Volcano Bay water theme park, and Epic Universe which is now open with Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, Isle of Berk, and Celestial Park. The entire resort is connected by Universal CityWalk, offering dining, shopping, and live entertainment. Each fall, Universal Studios Florida hosts Halloween Horror Nights, with HHN 2025 bringing new haunted houses, scare zones, and shows.
