TRAVEL APPS - top 6 to download before your next Trip

Описание: In this video I will summarize quickly which travel apps you need on your next trip. I think it is a myth that we need these special survival apps to travel emerging countries. Some of the travel apps I am talking about are apps we already have installed on our smartphone, like Google Maps for example. It is just a certain feature you maybe didn’t know about. So the following six travel apps are the best apps we had downloaded while traveling for 9 months all around Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia.

1. Google Maps
We all know Google Maps and almost everyone has downloaded this app already. But the feature we needed the most was offline maps. You can easily download parts of a country and open that map even if you don’t have internet connection. This will help you quite a lot if you are lost, if you want to track where the taxi driver is going or if you are in the jungle or on an island where you don’t have any internet connection. It helped us to always get an idea where we were. An alternative could be the app Citymaps2go - here you also have to download cities or countries. The problem is, that sometimes you won’t find a proper map (we had some problems in Cambodia). Google Maps is also better as you can even use the navigation offline now.


2. Tricount
This travel app is great if you are traveling in groups or with your partner. In groups you always have to share expenses for boat rides, accommodation etc. This travel app let you easily split all the expenses you have. It will tell you who owes money to whom: Quick and dirty. Alternative: Splittr, Venmo or GroupMe.

3. EX Currency
Perfect app if you need to calculate quickly how much to pay for something in a different currency. While traveling you have to bargain a lot, people will try to sell you overpriced tickets etc. EX currency helps to get a quick overview how much something costs.

4. 1Password
Great travel app to save all your passwords and pin numbers very secure. We had too many accounts and logins while traveling: different airlines, bank accounts, hostels, booking services etc.


5. Google Drive (or Dropbox)
We used this app while traveling as a backup for bad situations. You can upload a copy of your passport, your insurance documents, your flight ticket, everything you could possibly lose. Imagine something happens, so you don’t need to contact someone at home to send you some documents.


6. Tripadvisor
You can also use this travel app to download cities and all information about it. So you can bookmark hostels and restaurants, read comments etc. This app is amazing and one of my favorites. It is the best example for wisdom of the crowd.We love our appartment but our balcony was a mess for a long time. So we decided to make some design changes which makes you want to spend some time on our balcony. We had some great ideas to change the look of the balcony very easy and fast. All you need is some new floor grid, a bamboo mat as a privacy screen, some decorative items (like plants, light chains, lanterns etc.) and a bean bag!
