"Alternatives" was a Jazz sampler album released in 1989 by CBS Records that contained songs from unfamiliar artists (for me at least) from around the world. What made this sampler unique was not just the artists it chose to be on the album, but the jazz music itself had such different styles that it is hard to classify the type of jazz music. But this doesn't matter at the end of the day-- the music is just plain good. "Alternatives" is definitely one of the most obscure yet unique and musically satisfying jazz sampler albums I've ever listened to.
