Orion Lecture: Philippe Pasquier on “Creative AI & Co-Creation”

Описание: Philippe Pasquier is a scientific researcher, a multidisciplinary media artist, an educator and a community builder. He is both the director of the Metacreation Lab for Creative AI and a professor at Simon Fraser University’s School for Interactive Arts and Technology. With the Metacreation Lab, Philippe researches the theory and practice of Artificial Intelligence — endowing machines with autonomous behaviours, with a focus on creative and artistic applications.

His work is multidisciplinary and encompasses scientific and artistic research along with education and service to a variety of communities; he is currently pursuing a multidisciplinary research-creation program focused on generative systems and applied AI for creative tasks, computer-assisted creativity and co-creative systems.


The artistic work of the Metacreation Lab has been shown in prominent venues on six continents, including at Ars Electronica, MUTEK, IRCAM, Centre Pompidou, Eastern Block, Earzoom festival, several ISEA editions, Sydney Biennale, Vooruit, ZKM, ICST and Akbank.

Pasquier’s projects are also finding industrial applications and his music AI algorithms have reached millions through collaborations with the software industry (eg: Steinberg, Ableton, Teenage Engineering, Elias, Microsoft).
