Scapes: Harvest and Grow Bigger Garlic!

Removing the scape from a garlic plants helps the plant focus the energy it usually uses to 'go to' flowering..we interrupt this process by removing the scape, resulting in more energy and nutrients being sent to the growing garlic bulb. D- takes you through the logic and practice of harvesting garlic scapes on a beautiful early summer morning around a month before we harvest the garlic. The time for our garlic is near..so lets maximize the growth got bigger and better garlic!

We are a couple who decided to make a change to the way we were doing things after living a busy life in the city. We sold our house and bought a small camp with 3 acres and have been living simply off grid, offgrid (and gridless) for 14 years and we have not looked back. It’s a work in progress and we have done almost all of the work ourselves and so we thought we would attempt to inform/entertain those who are interested in our projects (and other random thoughts) in the hopes of giving back to other users the way that many vlogs and sites that have aided us along the way.
