Family Simm - Belalp

Описание: Belalp is a village and ski resort in Canton Valais, situated at approximately 2,100 metres above sea level in the municipality of Naters. Because of its altitude, Belalp is a vantage point offering views of the Dom and Fletschhorn mountains and other peaks of the Pennine and Lepontine Alps. Close to the village are the summits of Nesthorn, Hohstock and Sparrhorn mountains.

We went to Belalp to try and get away form the peak summer heat. The summer was just far too hot. When we arrived Belalp was about 21 degrees which was much better than the 32 / 33 that it had been around Interlaken.

We did a short circular walk to the Tyndall Denkmal which was erected for the Irish physicist and alpinist, John Tyndall, who spent his summers in the Swiss Alps, mainly at his favourite place, Belalp.

The walk is about 5.5km to 6km and takes about 2 hours. It takes you past the Hotel Belalp where we stopped for a drink but I think the next time we visit we will go for some food as that looked lovely.
