Bodycam video shows the moment University of Utah student Caroline Dias Goncalves, 19, is pulled over on a Colorado highway. During the stop, officer Alexander Zwinck notices Dias Goncalves’ accent, learning that she was born in Brazil. Zwick and other members of Mesa Police were part of a communication group with federal agencies for the purpose of “drug interdiction efforts,” however, the federal reps in the group began using the information “to extrapolate immigration information for the purposes of ICE enforcement,” eventually leading to Diaz Goncalves’ detainment, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.
