Women are still isolated during menstruation in some modern families. While the intention is often to give rest, it can also feel like exclusion.
This painting reflects the quiet strength of a young woman sitting in solitude, carrying both vulnerability and resilience.
Art isn’t just about colors and strokes, it’s about emotions words can’t always capture.
While creating it, I was reminded of the symbolism of Kamakhya Devi, where menstruation is honored as a sacred cycle of creation and power. Ancient cultures created safe retreats for women during their cycle, recognizing it as sacred.
Through this artwork, I’ve tried to capture that complex mix of solitude, stigma, and inner strength.
May this 卐 Navratri 卐 remind us that Devi is present not only in battles and victories but also in moments of silence, rest, and inner power. ॐ
