Hydroponic Garden in Panama

Описание: Check out my garden! There's nothing like walking out to your garden to pick fresh food! Shortly after moving to Panama, I started a vegetable garden. The soil is so rich where I live near Boquete that it makes it easy to grow food. But when it rains a lot, or if it was really windy, some crops could be destroyed. That's why, in 2016, I had a greenhouse installed. With a greenhouse, you can control the moisture content and protect plants from the wind in the dry season.

A few months ago, as an experiment, I had a hydroponic system installed in part of the greenhouse. Hydroponic uses 90% less water than traditional gardening.

Luckily, my neighbor John Wiseman loves to garden, so he maintains the garden and vegetable production. We discovered that you can go from seed to eating fresh veggies in less than 30 days using the hydroponic system. With a hydroponic system, there is no weeding and no bending over to pick plants. Some plants do better in the soil so we grow food in both the hydroponic system and in the soil. Some plants, like pumpkins, take up a lot of room so we grow them outside the greenhouse.
