In this instalment of Hachette’s The Dalek partwork series, we’re tackling Issues 7 to 10, continuing work on the Dalek dome and finally bringing its overall shape together.

Across these four issues, we add multiple outer dome panels, install the final light assembly, and begin fitting the first components of the eye stalk mechanism. It’s a slower phase of the build, but one that really shows how sturdy and substantial this Dalek is becoming.

Along the way, we also take a step back to explore the origins of the 2005 Dalek design, including the last-minute production scramble, the involvement of the BBC Model Unit, and how fan-built Daleks helped shape the revived series’ iconic look.

If you’re new to the series, this is very much a slow-burn build — but one that should pay off beautifully as more mechanical functions come online.
