A political row erupted after Congress leader Pawan Khera claimed to have booked a flight ticket for Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Guwahati to Imphal, urging him to visit violence-hit Manipur during his Assam visit on February 14. Khera shared the ticket on social media, saying the Prime Minister should travel to Manipur, which has witnessed unrest since 2023.
However, the ticket was later cancelled, leading to a dispute between Khera and Air India Express. While Khera alleged the airline cancelled the ticket without informing him, the airline said the booking was cancelled through the website’s self-service option and advised against sharing personal travel details publicly.
The incident has once again brought attention to the situation in Manipur and the political debate around the Centre’s response to the violence.
