Last weekend I visited this dangerous trek near Bangalore which goes by the name Madhugiri Hills. This is the second-largest monolith hill in Asia and the views from the top are breathtaking 😍

1. About Madhugiri Hills
• Madhugiri is home to the second-largest monolithic rock in Asia, making it a popular spot for trekking and adventure enthusiasts.
• The hill stands at an elevation of 3,930 feet above sea level, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.

2. Madhugiri Fort
• Historical Significance: The fort atop the hill was built by the Ganga Dynasty and later fortified by the Vijayanagara rulers and Hyder Ali.
• Architecture: The fort features multiple gateways, secret passageways, and bastions, showcasing excellent craftsmanship.
• Highlights: The fort has a temple dedicated to Gopalakrishna, which adds to the cultural and spiritual appeal of the place.

3. Trekking at Madhugiri
• Difficulty Level: The trek is moderately challenging, with steep ascents and rocky paths. It takes approximately 2-3 hours to reach the summit.
• Best Time to Visit: October to March is ideal due to pleasant weather conditions. Early mornings are recommended to avoid the heat.
• Safety Tips: Wear sturdy footwear, carry sufficient water, and avoid trekking during monsoons due to slippery rocks.

4. Flora and Fauna
• The hill and its surroundings are rich in biodiversity, with various species of birds, plants, and small animals.

5. How to Reach
• By Road: Madhugiri is about 105 km from Bengaluru, making it a perfect weekend getaway.
• By Train: Tumkur railway station (around 45 km away) is the nearest railhead.
• By Air: The nearest airport is Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.

6. Nearby Attractions
• Siddaganga Mutt: A spiritual and educational hub located about 20 km away.
• Devarayanadurga Hills: Another popular trekking and pilgrimage spot.
• Channarayana Durga: A lesser-known fort offering scenic views and a serene trekking experience.

• Start your trek early in the morning to enjoy cooler temperatures.
• Pack light but carry essentials like water, snacks, sunscreen, and a first-aid kit.
