How to Sing Long Notes: Vocal Warm Up With Adele's Hold On

In this vocal warm-up, we'll practice long, soft notes using Adele's "Hold On" in C Major. This exercise helps improve breath support and control for clear, long notes. Start by listening to Adele's version of "Hold On" to get a feel for the song. Sheet music is just a guide, so feel free to experiment with your own style. The melody line is left out so you can focus on the bass notes. Sing when you hear the bass note.

Sing softly to medium-soft. Good breath support is key for long notes. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart. Inhale silently, expanding your ribcage and abdominal area. Keep your ribcage expanded until the end of the phrase, and release your abdominals to take a new breath. Singing with a clear tone is easier because less air escapes the vocal folds. You can sing with a clear or breathy tone—both work.
