Hanukkah is a Biblical holiday that commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem in the 2nd century BC.
The holiday is observed for eight nights and days, starting on the 25th day of the Jewish month of Kislev (known in the Bible as Casleu), which falls in December in the Gregorian calendar. Hanukkah is a time for families to come together, light the menorah, and have fellowship among believers in the church.
The history of Hanukkah can be traced back to the time of the Maccabees, devout Israelites who fought against the Seleucid Empire, a Hellenistic kingdom that ruled over Palestine. The Maccabees were led by Judah Maccabee, who successfully defeated the Seleucids and regained control of Jerusalem and the Temple.
After their victory, the Maccabees wanted to rededicate the Temple, which had been desecrated by the Seleucids.
Over the centuries, Hanukkah has become a significant cultural and religious holiday for Jews around the world. It is a time to remember the past and to celebrate the freedom, faith, and righteousness of our forefathers.
John 10:22

Moreover Judas and his brethren with the whole congregation of Israel ordained, that the days of the dedication of the altar should be kept in their season from year to year by the space of eight days, from the five and twentieth day of the month Casleu, with mirth and gladness.
2 Maccabees 10:6
And they kept the eight days with gladness, as in the feast of the tabernacles, remembering that not long afore they had held the feast of the tabernacles, when as they wandered in the mountains and dens like beasts.
