This video shows you an alternative way to grow strawberries if you only have a small garden space. Growing them in a hanging basket is the perfect answer as when they are hung up, pests such as slugs and mice, which would eat them if they were on the ground, can’t reach. The disadvantage is that if you want a large crop you are going to need quite a few large baskets. We have planted 3 in a 30cm (12”) basket but you could plant 5 in a 45cm (18”) basket. Another disadvantage of growing them in baskets is that they dry out really quickly so if you have several baskets it could be worthwhile investing in an irrigation system.
