The Mergellina Funicular line (Funicolare di Mergellina) is one of the four funicular lines operating in Naples (Italy).
The Chiaia funicular line is temporarily closed as of summer 2024 due to maintenance/upgradation works.
While three of the lines (Centrale, Chiaia and Montesanto) converge in the Vomero neighbourhood with the upper terminating stations located close to one another, the Mergellina line is located farther north west of the three lines.
The 573 m long line was opened in 1931 and consists of five stations, with Mergellina as the lower terminus and Manzoni as the upper terminus. The line ascends 152 m with an average gradient of 16 %. The duration of a one-way trip is approx. 7 minutes.
Hours of operation/Frequency: 7:00 to 22:00 / every 10 mins.
