Описание: This is the first video of a trilogy made during a three week holiday in Turkey.

Being on the border between Europe and western Asia, Istanbul presents a melting pot of cultures, ethnic groups and religions.

You will see evidence of Greek, Persian, Byzantine and Ottoman influences everywhere. The fascinating Hagia Sophia, for example, was a richly decorated church for more than 1,000 years and subsequently an imperial mosque for over half a millennium. Palazzo Topkapi is instead a sumptuous complex of rooms, courtyards and terraces with amazing views of the Bosphorus. Today these attractions are religious museums visited by millions of people every year.

Another splendid example of Byzantine-Ottoman architecture is visible in the Blue Mosque, with domes, minarets and interiors decorated with blue İznik pottery. To admire this mosque in all its beauty, access from Sultanahmet Square along the remains of a hippodrome from the Roman era.
