Lilith, created from the same clay as Adam, rebelled in the Garden of Eden by refusing subordination and exiled herself near the Red Sea. Even when pressed by the angels Senoy, Sansenoy, and Semangelof, she maintained her autonomy, leading God to create Eve from one of Adam’s ribs. Recurring in apocryphal texts such as the Alphabet of Ben Sira, Lilith was demonized as a nocturnal demon who afflicted children, but today she is celebrated as a feminist symbol of freedom and resistance.
