10 short pieces in a late-Romantic parallel to Waldszenen: these are really beautiful gems, drawing from many contemporaneous influences. Impressionism shows up here, as does a lot of Wagner, and there are hints of Chopin, Debussy, and even early Berg.

Karg-Elert is a sadly neglected composer whose music definitely deserves to be known outside the flute/organ circles where it is most often played. There is a surprising amount of piano music available, all of which is highly crafted and very musically satisfying to explore.
