Salman Khan, along with several supporters, joined the Indian National Congress at a press briefing held at the NGDCC office in Mapusa on March 7, 2026. The induction was attended by Amit Patkar, GPCC Mapusa Incharge and Vice President Dr. Pramod Salgaonkar, GPCC General Secretary Vijay L. Bhike, and North Goa District President Virendra Shirodkar. Party leaders welcomed Khan, saying his entry will strengthen Congress at the grassroots in North Goa ahead of upcoming elections.
