This video was made in our client's home after the full restoration of his rare 1930 Mason & Hamlin model RAA by PianoWorks and the full restoration of the Ampico B reproducing system by Bobby Skinner. Faithfully executed, this player piano is a true mechanical wonder, capable of reproducing the nuances of the artist's performance more accurately than nearly all of today's player system technology.
The video begins with some fun popular music of the period before transitioning into a more challenging lyrical piece that sounds absolutely natural. In the second clip, the Ampico roll was recorded by Maestro Sergei Rachmaninoff performing the truly technical "Flight of the Bumble Bee" by Rimsky-Korsakoff.
