Mindfulness exercises support refugee children all over the world to:
1. Regain self-confidence
2. Build up trust in their bodies
3. Observe the situation around them instead of losing themselves in what is going on
Bodycheck by Hélène van Oudheusden is an easy exercise for refugee children and for their parents. It is also very useful for volunteer workers, either for themselves or for their pupils.
Note: mindfulness is not a replacement for psychological help. Please observe your pupils reactions and stay in touch with their physician or psychologist.
Scientific researches prove that using mindfulness improves focus and attention, results in more empathy and self-control, leads to higher self-esteem and may result in higher grades. Furthermore it assists children and students to solve their own issues with other children.
