On October 22, we had the honour of welcoming Professor Melanie Woodin, the newly installed 17th President of the University of Toronto at Council. This marked her first public appearance in Peel Region since assuming office on July.
President Woodin joined Council to provide an update on the City’s partnership with UTM. Over the past two years, this collaboration has:
• Supported 19 joint initiatives to support our City
• Secured nearly $200,000 in research grants
• Enabled 2,600 student hours through experiential learning
From transit improvements shaped by student advocacy, to innovation driven by ICUBE and IDEA Mississauga, and even research tackling ecological and supporting infrastructure — this partnership is helping shape the future of our city.
