Oh mannnnn, what am I getting myself into here? This is a 1989 Marshall 2210, courtesy of the awesome Rob DeAntonio at Jaded Faith Amp Mods / The Amp Shop. Thanks again, Rob!
This amp came to him as a lost cause already, having never really sounded good to begin with, and barely working. This is most likely due not only to neglect, but also a host of suspicious modding done at some point in time. He was like "dude, just gut that thing." That's what I did, but because I'm an idiot, I'm building it back up as a stock 2210.
What I DON'T know is whether or not I can pull this off. One expert has already decided this was a fool's errand. Fortunately, I'm a fool, and they just sell soldering stations to anyone these days. They didn't even card me!
I've got all new parts coming. The only things I'm retaining are the chassis, head shell, board, and original Drake choke. Everything else, including most of the board components and all of the wiring, will be brand new. Can I stick this landing? I really don't know. This is a far cry from the 2203s and 2204s and Plexis I've been building and refurbishing. It will be a real test of my limited skillset, and is forcing me to actually learn how to read schematics, rather than just rely on layouts.
