Developing the technology for small-batch platinum powder atomization is all in an innovative day’s work for Joerg Fischer-Buehner, who heads R&D at @INDUTHERMGermany , a leading supplier of casting systems for the jewellery industry. @INDUTHERMGermany and @bluepowergmbh6941 launched the first gas atomizer for the production of spherical metal powder in small to medium-size batches a decade ago, and ongoing advances in the tech – such as zirconia oxide ceramics – now allow its smooth use at the temperatures of +2,000°C required for platinum. He talks us through yields above 50% for platinum powder atomization; re-melting the powder; and the beauty of @bluepowergmbh6941's air classification process.
