Jamui Horror Under Scanner: Encounter, Arrests & The Bigger Question Of Girls’ Safety | News9

Описание: Jamui Horror Under Scanner: Encounter, Arrests & The Bigger Question Of Girls’ Safety | News9

The Jamui case has shocked the country, with police now claiming that prime accused Nandan Yadav was shot in the leg during an encounter while another accused, Hare Ram Yadav, was arrested. With five of the seven suspects identified from the videos reportedly in custody, the investigation includes an FIR under POCSO and the BNS, an SIT probe and raids to trace the remaining accused. But beyond arrests and police action lies a larger question: what failed before the assault happened? The alleged assault of two Class 10 students returning from coaching has triggered questions over deterrence, policing, accountability and the safety of girls in public spaces. Controversial remarks by JD(U) state president Umesh Kushwaha and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary have added another dimension to the political debate. Tonight, we put the Jamui case, the police action, the statements and the bigger question of prevention under the scanner.
