Jonas Gahr Støre is the current Norwegian Foreign Minister. He has previously served as a special advisor, director general, state secretary and chief of staff in the Norwegian Prime Minister's office. He is a former executive director at the World Health Organization, and was also the Executive Chairman of the Norwegian think-tank ECON Analyse. Before becoming Foreign Minister he served as Secretary General of the Norwegian Red Cross from 2003 to 2005.
During his TEDxRC² talk, Støre explores the need for dialogue with State and non-State actors, and asks the question: "Should we talk to those who attack our societies, challenge our most deeply held values, and violate rights we consider fundamental?"
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
