Chris Connor, Assistant Dean for Graduate Enrollment Management Services at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, presented this informative webinar on paperless admissions processes on Wednesday, February 6, 2013. With more than 15 years of comprehensive experience in higher education and enrollment management, Chris provides leadership and coordination in graduate and professional school recruitment, admissions and the new student enrollment process to assist SUNY Buffalo in achieving its enrollment goals.
The State University of New York at Buffalo recently completed a rapid transformation from a traditional paper based admissions process to an environmentally friendly paperless electronic admissions process for both domestic and international applicants. In fact, the move to a paperless process was relatively seamless - the University's transition did not involve purchasing expensive software or require a significant investment in hiring staff, but rather necessitated a reallocation of an existing source of university revenue.
Chris discusses the countless benefits to a paperless process in terms of increasing efficiency for the applicant as well as faculty and staff on the admissions committee by eliminating unnecessary delays waiting for qualified applicants to secure official transcripts/documents. He further discusses the initial preparation involved and walks the audience through the actual steps of the paperless process. Also, an overview is provided detailing how this revised process lead to the development of an integrated faculty reviewer's portal, which enables faculty to complete their assessment of applicants in a flexible, individual program-based online paperless environment.
