রোববার সকালে রাজধানীর ওসমানী স্মৃতি মিলনায়তনে স্বাধীনতা পদক-২০১৮ প্রদান অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তব্য রাখেন তিনি। স্বাধীনতার চেতনায় উন্নত সমৃদ্ধ দেশের পথে যে যাত্রা, তা যেনো থেমে না যায় সেদিকে খেয়াল রাখার আহ্বান জানান প্রধানমন্ত্রী।

প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, আওয়ামী লীগ ক্ষমতায় থাকা মানেই দেশের জনগণের উন্নয়ন করা। ক্ষুধা, দারিদ্রমুক্ত এবং উন্নয়নশীল দেশ গড়তে কাজ করে যাচ্ছে সরকার।'

তিনি বলেন, '৪৩ বছর পর আজ আমরা উন্নয়নশীল দেশ হিসেবে বিশ্বে স্বীকৃতি পেয়েছি। এত সময় লাগলো এটাই আমাদের দুর্ভাগ্য। তারপরও আমরা সেটা অর্জন করেছি। সরকারের ধারাবাহিকতা ছিলো বলেই আমরা এতো উন্নয়ন করতে পেরেছি। বিগত ৩ বছর ধরে স্বল্পোন্নত দেশ থেকে উন্নয়নশীল দেশে উত্তরণের জন্য প্রধান তিনটি শর্তের মধ্যে দু'টি শর্ত পূরণ করলেই উন্নয়নের সনদ পাওয়া যায়। কিন্তু আমরা বাংলাদেশ তিনটি শর্তই বেশ বড় ব্যবধানে পূরণ করতে সক্ষম হয়েছি। স্বাধীনতার চেতনায় উদ্বুদ্ধ হয়ে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের প্রেরণা নিয়ে বাংলাদেশ যেভাবে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছে, তা যেনো থেমে না যায়। ২০২১ সালের মধ্যে বাংলাদেশ মধ্য আয়ের দেশ এবং ২০৪১ সালের মধ্যে দেশে পরিণীত হতে চাই।'

এ বছর ৭টি ক্যাটাগরিতে নিজ নিজ কর্মক্ষেত্র অবদানের জন্য ১৮ জনকে স্বাধীনতা পদক তুলে দেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী।


Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh has been promoted from LDC to developing countries due to continuation of the government.


In his speech at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Sunday, he spoke on the occasion of Independence Medal-2013. The Prime Minister called upon the caretaker of independence not to stop the journey of a prosperous country.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that keeping Awami League in power means development of the people of the country. The government is working to build a hunger, poverty-free and developing country.

He said, 'After 43 years, today we have been recognized as a developing country. It took us so long that this is our misfortune. Yet we have achieved that. We were able to develop so much because the government was consistent. For the last 3 years, the certificate of development has been achieved only if two conditions have been fulfilled in the three main conditions for the transition from the LDC to the developing country. But we have been able to fulfill three conditions in Bangladesh by a very large gap. In the spirit of independence, Bangladesh's way of going ahead with the motivation of the war of liberation should not stop. Between 2021 Bangladesh wants to be recognized by the middle income countries and by 2041. '

This year, the Prime Minister handed over 18 freedom fighter medals to the contribution of their work in 7 categories.
