Assessing Bitcoin's Impact on U.S. National Security

Описание: In this panel from the "Bitcoin Policy Summit" David Zell, Matthew Pines, Matthew Ferranti, Kyle Schneps and Ben Kincaid discuss Bitcoin's impact on U.S. national security.

David Zell is the Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director of the Bitcoin Policy Institute. Before founding BPI, David was the Director of Policy for BTC Inc. He is an advisor to Bitcoin Magazine and holds a Visting Fellowship at the Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity. David studied Political Science at the University of Alabama.

Matthew Pines is the Director of Intelligence at Krebs Stamos Group, a cybersecurity and geostrategic intelligence consultancy. He has over ten years of experience helping the government and private sector firms address pressing security and resilience challenges. He has conducted dozens of assessments of national preparedness, emerging technology, and strategic security programs for the U.S. government. He holds a master’s degree in Philosophy and Public Policy (with Distinction) from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a bachelor’s degree in Physics and Philosophy (with Honors) from Johns Hopkins University.

Ben Kincaid is a founding partner of Bridger Solutions, an Africa-focused Bitcoin mining company. He left a long career in the U.S. Foreign Service in 2022 after serving and leading teams in multiple countries in Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. Ben currently lives in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where his wife is currently posted to the U.S. Embassy. He holds a BA.in International Studies and Political Science from Virginia Military Institute and an MA in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University.

Matthew Ferranti is a Ph.D. Candidate in Economics at Harvard University. His research focuses on international finance and macroeconomics, particularly the composition and allocation of central bank reserves. Matthew's job market paper explores whether central banks facing sanctions risk might consider purchasing Bitcoin as an alternative to gold. Matthew's doctoral studies are supported by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.

Kyle is the Director of Public Policy at Foundry Digital. Kyle spent most of his career serving as a US Intelligence Officer, which was preceded by a diplomatic post as Advisor to the Special Envoy for Guantanamo Bay Closure at the State Department. He is a former White House Fellow, during which time he worked across different national security and federal budgeting roles in the Obama Administration. Over the course of his career, he has lived and/or worked in over sixty countries and continues to bring Foundry’s forward-looking mission to the forefront of domestic and international affairs. He holds two Masters’ degrees in International Affairs and Public Health from Columbia University.
