'നേരെ ചൊവ്വേയിലാണ് സതീശൻ്റെ ഈ പ്രതികരണം. നിലമ്പൂർ ഉപതിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് വെൽഫെയർ പാർട്ടിയുടെ പിന്തുണ യു.ഡി.എഫ് സ്വീകരിച്ചതിനെതിരെ സി.പി.എം വലിയ വിമർശനം ഉന്നയിക്കുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തിലാണ് സതീശൻ്റെ ഈ നിലപാട്. ജമാഅത്തെ ഇസ്ലാമി മതരാഷ്ട്രവാദ നിലപാടുകളിൽ നിന്ന് മാറിയിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും, മതേതര നിലപാടുള്ള സംഘടനയായി മാറിയെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം വാദിച്ചു.

| Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan questioned why Jamaat-e-Islami should be rejected, asking what wrong they have done to be "driven away." Satheesan made this statement during an interview with 'Nere Chove.' His remarks come in the context of strong criticism from the CPI(M) against the UDF's acceptance of support from the Welfare Party, the political wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, in the Nilambur by-election. Satheesan argued that Jamaat-e-Islami has moved away from its earlier stance on a theocratic state and has now adopted a secular position, hence there is no issue in accepting their support.
