The King and Queen have arrived in Italy for a state visit as Britain works to “reset our relationships with our European partners”, officials said.
The royals were greeted on the red carpet at the military section of Rome Ciampino airport by a guard of honour and a military band playing both countries’ national anthems.
Before they touched down, Lord Llewellyn of Steep, British ambassador to Italy, said the state visit would “deliver a meaningful and broad legacy”.
