The sister and brother of two Brits released in a Russian-Ukrainian prisoner swap told The News Desk of the incredible moment Shaun Pinner and Aiden Aslin were released from a Russian gulag.
The prisoners, along with fellow soldiers Andrew Hill, John Harding and aid worker Dylan Healy, were unexpectedly freed following a deal between Putin and Saudi Arabia.
Their siblings, Cassandra Pinner and Nathan Wood, spoke about how they are coping since being released and also confirmed former Chelsea football club owner Roman Abramovich was involved in the effort.
Speaking to TalkTV host Tom Newton Dunn, Cassandra Pinner told of the moment her brother Shaun returned home: “He’s doing really well. It’s been an amazing reunion. The whole of the closest family, big hugs and loads of crying, for the good reasons this time. It’s just been brilliant. He’s been settling in and we’ve been feeding him. Just having some lovely family time.”
