Описание: In today’s episode Leon Nubla QUICKLY covers what you need in your application packet to make it a complete and effective means to lay out your case to prove that you IN-FACT are suffering from a condition acquired in service and how it affects your life.

Following this checklist will create a game plan that makes your disability easy to explain and more importantly, makes you the applicant look credible. It also ensures you covered all the important basis in your application.

Following these steps will help cut time out of your claim for possible delays such as missing forms, evidence, and the time it takes to acquire, submit and having it reviewed.

Again, this episode is meant to be a quick roadmap for you to create your checklist now that you’ve decided to initially apply for benefits or apply for an increase in benefits. In future episodes we’ll cover and do deep dives on each of the steps we’ll be discussing today.

Step 1
Sign up for two Websites. VA.gov and Ebenefits.va.gov. These two sites are going to be integral throughout your life with applying for benefits, checking its status, adding more evidence, and later requesting for care and other resources afforded to you based on your rating level

Step 2
Create a folder for each disability Claim, separate in 8 categories.
1. Your printed application form, either filled by yourself or your local VSO or claims representative.
2. Your DD214.
3. Your Personal Statement and Buddy Letters.
4. Your Military Nexus Letters and DBQ (Disability Benefits Questionnaire) Forms.
5. Your Pertinent Military records showing proof of Campaign participation, awards, etc.
6. Only pertinent parts of your Military Medical Records.
7. Only Pertinent parts of your Private medical Records.
8. Proof of application for your initial intent to file date. This is important because back pay will be determined by this date and you have exactly 1 year to provide other evidence before your claim is processed and/or closed.

Step 3
Keep seeing your healthcare professionals and attend all necessary appointments. Just because you filed for your claim doesn’t mean you stop getting the care you need. This is even easier now that the Mission Act is in place!
