This piece of music is composed to guide you trough the 4-7-8 breathing technique. The 4-7-8 breathing technique was invented by Dr. Andrew Weil. He believes this technique helps with reducing anxiety, falling asleep, managing cravings and reduce anger responses. Some sufferers from Tinnitus use it to relieve and distract themselves from their tinnitus.
The following instructions were taken from Medical News Today (link below).
Before starting the breathing pattern, adopt a comfortable sitting position and place the tip of the tongue on the tissue right behind the top front teeth.
To use the 4-7-8 technique, focus on the following breathing pattern:
Empty the lungs of air.
Breathe in quietly through the nose for 4 seconds.
Hold the breath for a count of 7 seconds.
Exhale forcefully through the mouth, pursing the lips and making a "whoosh" sound, for 8 seconds.
The choir chord progression in this piece of music follows this excact breathing pattern. After a while a piano, clarinet, bass and string section start playing gently.
