After his death in April 1824, his remains were repatriated to England, where he was interred within his family burial vault in Hucknall in Nottinghamshire. In 1938, his burial vault was examined, and his coffin was found to have been opened. In this video, I explore the whole story of his repatriation, burial, and the exploration of the vault—a story that includes a rather peculiar and lurid twist.
