This tutorial introduces the concept of vibrato for saxophone players. Demonstrations are provided using just the mouthpiece, reed and ligature along with full video tracks of performances on alto and tenor saxophone where vibrato forms a natural part of the performance.
Basic exercises are suggested for players who are new to the concept of pitch alteration in the form of vibrato.
Musical use of vibrato rather than treating it as a mechanical effect is emphasized throughout the tutorial.
