Question-66: What is NET-ID of Class-C IPv4 addressing?
In Class-C IPv4 addressing, the first three octets (the leftmost 24 bits) are used to represent the network portion of the address, while the remaining octet represents the host portion of the address. Therefore, the NET-ID (network identifier) in Class-C IPv4 addressing is the combination of the first three octets of the IP address.
The range of Class-C IPv4 addresses is from 192.0.0.0 to 223.255.255.0, with a default subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. This means that the first octet of any Class-C IPv4 address will be a value between 192 and 223, inclusive. For example, the NET-ID of the IP address 192.168.0.1 is 192.168.0.
