After this 1700 FPM hot mill installed a Sonic Air blower with a Sonic 400 MPH side sweep air nozzle they were able to eliminate the water jet side sweep nozzles after the last laminar cooling process flow bank. By replacing the last side sweep water jets, the Sonic air nozzle ensures much less strip temperature variation across the entire width as each strip enters the roll out table prior to coiling. The Sonic high velocity air stream continuously and completely blasts the large volume of cooling water sitting on the steel off the strip as it races by.
