At least 19 Denver metro gas stations received contaminated unleaded fuel, likely mixed with diesel, from a third-party supplier. Colorado's Department of Labor and Employment has received over 200 complaints of engine issues, from stalling to complete failure. The contamination stemmed from fuel loaded at the HF Sinclair terminal in Henderson, Colorado, between January 7th and 8th.
The Division of Oil and Public Safety alerted 3,000 gas stations statewide and is working with Sinclair to identify all affected locations. Consumers who suspect they purchased contaminated fuel should contact the gas station where they bought it to seek claims for damages. King Soopers has identified 19 of their locations with contaminated fuel. Officials believe the contamination at fuel pumps should be resolved within 24-36 hours.
