The Mending was a major even that changed the course of Magic: The Gathering forever. Prior to the Mending, Planeswalkers were basically Gods with unlimited power, immortality, and boundless capabilities.

Pre-mending Planeswalkers were capable of crafting their own planes, raising the dead back to life, destroying entire worlds, and any number of other miraculous feats.

The mending nerfed them considerably, but in the wake of Nicol Bolas, Liliana Vess, and Sorin Markov.. was the nerf necessary? Planeswalkers now, like Gideon and Jace, and humble and relocatable.. does that make for better storytelling?
