This video is for anyone who has ever felt like their body was holding them back from their dreams. We’re taking a page out of Frida Kahlo’s book today: turning the struggle into art.
"You gotta go where your lungs don't feel like they're burning." In this update, I’m talking about the reality of "Cedar Fever" in Austin and how it intersects with my journey of recovering from Lyme disease.
Living with chronic health triggers while working as a digital nomad requires a specific kind of professional resilience. I share why I rotate between cities to find salt air, the physical toll of $100,000 in medical battles in my 20s, and why I refuse to let my symptoms stop my pirate animation project.

Resilience isn't always a grand gesture. Sometimes, it’s just 10 antihistamines and a refusal to stop creating. ⚓🎨
Day 5 in Austin, and while my voice is still a struggle, I am working on my work tasks before returning to salt air in Seabrook, TX. Austin's allergies tried to take my voice, but dealing with mold re-triggering Lyme is a test of resilience I’ve taken before, and I’m not failing it now. I chose to be an fCMO, learn AI to be an animator, and work as a digital nomad so I can heal and work on my own terms. If you're feeling stuck or sick today, this is your sign to keep creating anyway. 🏴☠️✨Dealing with "Cedar Fever" and mold isn't just a minor inconvenience for me—it’s a battle to keep old Lyme symptoms at bay. I spent $100,000 in my early 20s fighting for my health while others were starting families. That season taught me a lot about grit. Today, resilience is:
Showing up to sail at the Austin Yacht Club despite "tiger stripes".
Using my digital nomad freedom to find the salt air my lungs need.
Channeling my inner Frida Kahlo—turning physical pain into a pirate cartoon that brings joy to others.
We all have our "Austin Cedar"—those things that try to hold us back. But as Frida showed us, you can make beautiful art even when everything is stacked against you.
Next step: What are you pushing through today? Let’s celebrate the small wins in the comments. 👇
