Amphibious landings are a key pillar of maritime force. From dominating the battlespace in war to reaching people in need during a humanitarian crisis, striking from the sea is often the most effective and efficient way.
At annual exercise BALTOPS 2016, 15 NATO nations plus Finland and Sweden practised amphibious assaults from NATO Response Force 2016 flagship HMS Ocean in the Baltic Sea.

Force contributing NATO Nations: Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, UK, and US.
