Nora Helmer is a complex character because the way she behaves in front of her husband and children doesn't quite square up with her true self. She fits the role of a seemingly submissive, 'little bird' of a wife to Torvald at the start of the play, but ultimately makes the fateful - and in Ibsen's time, controversial - decision to leave the Helmer household and pursue a new life of her own. My question, though, is whether this charts a course of character transformation in the play, or if Nora never really changes at her core, but rather experiences a reconciliation of what has been a 'split' self. In this video, I explore this idea in detail with close reference to the play!
